Antique Victorian late 1800’s early 1900’s, triple deep red garnet ring, nearly 1ctw each, oval cut, set on an angle in a band-like ring that has nice engraved accents on the uppers sides of each side of the band. The ring weighs approximately 5.04 grams. The ring is approximately 9mm at the front top of the ring and it tapers down to appx. 3.4 grams at the back. The ring was checked by a gemologist and they are natural garnets. They are a deep red with some inclusions inside the stone which is natural. You do not see the inclusions without magnification. T
his was a great estate find – the ring is a band design so the stones are set in a way that they curve slightly with the finger and do not lay straight across. As you can see in the photos, they do have an open back, the stones extend beyond the gold but not enough to interfere with wearing – it is not uncomfortable. You do not feel the stones when you are wearing them – it is just how the maker set the stones and is indicative of an older ring.
The one stone has two small chips on the facet on the underside of the stone. This has a lot of appeal from victorian to gothic and just in general too. I think for it’s age it is a ring that you can easily say is in good condition.
