Vintage Jewelry: Vintage Stick, Jabot Pin, 10kt Gold, with a large 1.4 clear diamond-like stone that appears to be a synthetic moissonite or some other synthetic diamond. It has doubling of the facets and is an old mine style cut – it has a small table and is a nice sized oval cut stone that is appx. 8.4mm by 4.8 mm and about 5mm deep. Looking at the stone without magnification it looks very clear. It is held with 6 prongs. The gold does not have wear and is ribbed in the center one-third of the overall 2″ long pin. It weighs appx. 1.07 grams. It’s a beauty – it’s old but has a new look to it. Moissonite was synthesized first in the very late 1800s and then more so in the early 1900s and thereafter. I have not found many synthetic moissonite or synthetic diamonds in this size – I am sure they are out there, but I didn’t find any. ame from a Pa. estate sale with many Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco pieces. Very good condition – see photos.
